The Target Outcomes

The core proposition of this book is to define and operationalize a new economic system whose primary function is to identify, prioritize, and transform meaningful problems.

If we reach this destination—if we can successfully equip ourselves with the language, visualizations, tools, and frameworks required to correctly map the problems we experience—we can transform them into deliberate progress. This will permanently shift our foundational understanding of society.

Redefining the Dominant Systems

This target outcome contrasts directly with the dominant systems of the past and present, which optimize for fundamentally different variables:

  • Efficiency (Neoclassical Economics)
  • Growth / GDP (Keynesian & Neoliberal hybrids)
  • Equilibrium (General Equilibrium Theory)
  • Capital Accumulation (Marxist Analysis)
  • Market Coordination (Austrian Economics)

BUMPS (Big Untransformed Meaningful Problematic Situations)

Our outcome is to transition away from artificially constructed "missions." Unlike missions (which often only exist in the minds of policymakers to justify action), BUMPS are real anomalies that exist in the physical and systemic world, detectable by the people who experience them.

Our target is to establish an ontology that allows you to see the world not as a landscape of missing solutions, but as an interplay of Problems, Transformations, and Outcomes (PTO).
